Our Mission is to provide equine assisted learning experiences for children, teens, and young adults living with a variety of challenges so that each participant can reach his or her highest potential.
Saddles and Smiles is located in Canaan Valley, six miles south of Davis, in beautiful Tucker County, WV.

Share our work! Tell our story to anyone who can benefit from our services and help us find new participants to join our S&S family. Tell our story to anyone who may be able to assist in fundraising efforts or who may become a supporter of our work, so we can continue providing these important services.
Donate your Time
There are always opportunities for volunteers to spend time in our barn and with our participants. We also hold three camps each summer, and we always need additional hands, feet, and ideas. You can be a part of the magic that happens when kids and horses get together.
What does a session look like?
Each session is completely dependent on the individual client. We allow the client needs determine where and what we will do for the sessions. Obviously horses are involved, but all kinds of events occur during sessions.
The client may be involved in any of the following activities:
- Grooming horses
- Learning horse names
- Learning to touch horses properly
- Putting tack on
- Being safe around the horses
- How to mount and dismount properly
- Feeding and caring for horses
- Meeting the other animals on the farm
- Meeting other people at the barn
- Exploring the barn, arena and farm
- Games we play
- Sensory discovery opportunities
- Learning about poop
