About us

A 501c3, Saddles & Smiles was created to provide equine assisted learning experiences for children, teens, and young adults with a variety of mental, emotional and physical challenges. The services we provide to our participants and their families are critical due to the rural nature of Tucker County.  Often, services for this population are located an hour or more away, requiring families to dedicate a significant amount of time and money in order to get services for their children.  These are resources that many cannot spare.  To meet this need, we provide opportunities to participants in our local area free of charge.  We rely on fundraising, small grants, and generous supporters to help us sustain these opportunities.

Challenges we work with:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Neurological Disorders
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Spina Bifida
  • Trauma Response
  • Emotional Dysregulation
  • Social Skills Development
  • Anxiety and Depression

Every dollar that is raised goes directly to support the services provided by Saddles & Smiles, including caring for our incredible herd of horses; purchasing equipment and supplies, including adaptive riding equipment and safety gear for our riders; supplies for our camps; and supports for the families of our participants.
